I have visited Mountain Light gallery several times in Bishop and was thawed to see those huge prints of Galen. A true inspiration for ALL the next generation landscapers, be it a professional or an amateur. I couldn't say anything more of what has already been said. Galen's passion and work has been my primary source of inspiration and I have learn to see landscapes in new perspective and I wish I could get an inch of what he has achieved through his photography. May his soul rest in piece. regards, ~deb

I recently had the great honor of visiting Mountain Light Gallery for the first time. I have been a big fan of Mr. Rowell's work and philosophys for over 20 years. I am a amature landscape photographer. When I walked into Mountain Light I could physically feel that I had entered a very special place. I am truly inspired by Galen and Barbara and I hope to attend a workshop one day. I am from Chicago Illinois but my heart will always be in the grande Sierras, the most beautiful of all mountain ranges. Thank you.

I just came across the 1989 Ntl Geo. which has an article by him on the Muir Trail. I remember going to Mtn. Light in Emeryville while attending Berkeley and meeting Galen. I remember his firm handshake, shock of hair and broad smile. As a wildland firefighter in Plumas county and later climbing Whitney.whenever I am in the mountains really, I think of Galen Rowell. There is a psychic dislocation, like a bone out of place, when I consider that he is gone. What a good man. What great contributions he made in mountaineering, photography, and climbing. I cannot go to the southern east side, yosemite, or anywhere beautiful above 4k ft. without thinking about my hero Galen Rowell.

The photographs are looking as great as ever, timeless perhaps, and I can't wait for the books to be reprinted.

Just returned from Merriam Lake Idaho. Galen would have loved the Alpine gem and I thought of him as I photographed. Thanks for the inspiration and influence.

We are in a world that is in desperate need of people who inspire, who are genuine, and who will stand up alone if necessary to defend what they believe in. Galen and Barbara did this and left behind a legacy that will inspire generations to follow their example. Brilliant artists, but more than that just plain good people.

I just finished reading Flying South: A Pilot's Inner Journey. Barbara's honest story of a life changing experienced has touched me. Though I am not a pilot, I love to fly in small planes. Being about Barbara's age, having experienced many similar feelings that she discribed of her inner journey, my soul was touched. I am thankful that she wrote of her experiences. My husband and I stopped at Mountain Light on a trip from Sacramento to Las Vegas. We are now fans of the Rowell's artistic and journalistic work. Many thanks for what they have left for this world.

I have been a fan of Galen's work for many, many years and have been a Nikon user for almost as many. I am grateful to you guys for the way you have maintained Mountain Light after Galen and Barbara's passing. And I am also grateful for the astonishing body of work that Galen left for the world. He truly revolutionized landscape, travel, wildlife and editorial photography and should be recognized by every photographer for these accomplishments.

It's been a few years now and I am still saddened about the tragedy of Galen and Barbara. With every change of light, and every stunning landscape I witness, I thank Galen for inspiring me because I ALWAYS think, yes, this is the way God sees the beauty of Nature, and Galen captured God's beauty for us to see it too.

I'm kind of new to this whole photography thing, but after seeing Galen's photos and a video of him, it makes me really want to become a photographer too. Hopefully, I'll get there someday, thanks to Galen.

I Stumbled upon Galen's photos while browsing the features of my Tivo. I was stunned and amazed. Galen's photos are some of the most amazing images I have ever seen. The world has lost a brilliant artist. Thank you for your contributions to art, we'll miss you.

It isn't everyday that I see work that takes my breath away. One can only wonder why such talent has to leave us so early.

A week ago I visited the home base in Bishop and bought a pair of filters. I knew Galen Rowell via other photographers and had seen some of his photos. In Bishop I was confronted with his work and I was stunned. It brings you more to Nature than any other work of art I've seen so far. One starts wondering, how can a photographer produce these stunning pictures ? These photo's are far beyond just technique. Galen and Barbara Rowell must have been wonderful people with great eyes and sense of beauty. They grabbed me.

I am about to begin lecturing a digital photography course and will draw extensively from Galen's tips in [his book] Inner Game of Outdoor Photography. Previously I worked on a local paper for 5 years but from IGOP learnt a vital Nikon flash tip! As I also work in Jessops [photo shop], I have passed on this tip many times.
